2019 Edition • Two-Week Intensive Program
In 2019, ARTIST RESIDENCY.co, in collaborative partnership with the sa group, proudly hosted an exclusive, high-impact two-week Artist Residency in Dubai. This premium initiative was strategically curated to offer a dynamic cross-cultural platform for emerging global talent, granting them the creative freedom, infrastructure, and international spotlight required to significantly push the boundaries of their contemporary practice.
For this landmark 2019 edition, the residency turned its focus exclusively toward the vibrant contemporary art landscape of Pakistan. Three exceptionally gifted visual artists were meticulously handpicked from the prestigious College of Art & Design in Lahore.
Over the course of 14 intensive days, these selected residents completely immersed themselves within the fabric of Dubai’s rapidly expanding, highly diverse international art ecosystem, engaging deeply with regional influences to produce transformative new narratives.

The curriculum of the Dubai 2019 residency was strategically designed as an accelerated catalystfor long-term career growth and technical evolution. Throughout their tenure, the artists engaged extensively across three core structural pillars:
Advanced Studio Practice: Full access to dedicated workspaces to experiment seamlessly with new mediums, spatial contexts, and conceptual expressions directly inspired by Dubai’s iconic urban geometry and distinct light.
Curatorial & Cultural Dialogue: Direct roundtables, portfolio reviews, and collaborative networking events with leading Middle Eastern curators, seasoned gallerists, and established regional collectors, forging a permanent artistic highway between Pakistan and the GCC region.
Critical Exploration: Guided architectural and historical research excursions, mapping the direct contrasts between Dubai’s ultra-modern skyline and its deeply preserved heritage districts to serve as foundational research for future bodies of work.
